About Us
You can find plenty of talented craftsmen online offering unique and eye-catching products—solid wood furniture and décor among them. But there is almost nothing quite like what we make. That realization, among other things, became our starting point: to try our hand and share our own vision of woodworking with the world.
Old Red Country House is our attempt to turn everyday, utilitarian household items into works of art. We hope we’ve succeeded.
What we stand for, what we believe in, and how we work:
- All our furniture is made from solid wood only. No particle board, fiberboard, or other glued sawdust—ever.
- All artwork on our pieces is hand-painted. The design and concept are entirely original.
- The wood we use includes cherry, oak, ash, maple, pine, acacia, sweet cherry, birch, apple, plum, and more. Exact details are listed in each product description.
- Boards are joined exclusively with metal fasteners, without using glue.
- Every piece is one of a kind. An exact 100% copy is nearly impossible – though the concept can be recreated.
- The finish is a clear water-based varnish. This is the minimum necessary protection to ensure the wood lasts as long as possible. Overall, we aim to keep our furniture as natural as we can—preserving the wood’s original color and texture. We don’t cut away «imperfections»: knots and natural features remain exactly as nature intended.
And now, a few words about our small team.
My name is Philipp, and I’m responsible for working with the wood. My wife Marina paints the artwork on the finished pieces. We live in the countryside, right next to that very old red house where all our creations come to life.
«Why not call the shop that?» – I once said to my wife. We clinked glasses – and the journey began. 😊
So yes, this is a classic family business, tucked away in what some might call the middle of nowhere. But we sincerely hope that makes it no less interesting—and no less worth your attention.
