The schnapps shelf is made from ash. This is a hard wood, which, although available to carpenters throughout much of Europe, is rarely used due to its significant cost. Only oak and walnut surpass it in both unofficial prestige and price. Ash wood has clearly defined growth rings, a light coffee color that sometimes deepens or lightens. On the protective board, a stag is depicted against a pine forest background, referencing various German folklore and the overall cultural-historical background.
