1. Refrigerator or wine cooler.
   If you don’t keep a large number of bottles on hand, this kitchen appliance will do just fine. It’s especially suitable for spirits, but beer, wine, and ciders will also feel great at temperatures around +5°C (about 41°F).

   

2. Wall cabinet.
   Almost every house or apartment has one. And if it’s not already packed with dishes and miscellaneous stuff, two or three bottles of aqua vitae will fit there perfectly. The downside is that wall cabinets are usually located high up in the kitchen, where the average temperature is higher. Not the most obvious choice, but quite viable. The temperature there is usually no different from the rest of the room – bedroom or living room – and no light gets in. Downsides: you need extra space for this piece of furniture, and it must be positioned so that it receives as little sunlight as possible. Direct sunlight is strictly unacceptable.

   

8. Tabletop rack.
   If a wine cabinet is a large rack aimed more at collectors, a tabletop rack is perfect for people without luxury ambitions. It typically holds around 5–10 bottles, most often stored horizontally. This is especially relevant for wine, which is recommended to be stored this way for long periods. There are also floor-standing wine racks, including designer versions, but the total bottle count usually doesn’t increase. The key drawback of this design is that once a bottle is opened, you can’t put it back horizontally – you either finish it or store it upright somewhere else.

   

9. Alcohol shelf.
   If you rarely store more than 3–6 bottles of different alcohol at the same time, this is almost the ideal option.
